NEW PATIENTS WELCOME: ABOUT OUR DENTAL OFFICE IN ST. JOHN'S
Paradise Dental Care has been a family dentist in the Paradise area for nearly 2 decades, and in that time we have seen lots of families grow up in our care. Led by Dr. Mahlli our staff helps patients of all ages get on the path to optimal oral health, with regular checkups, preventative treatments and periodontal care.

For many patients, the most remarkable thing about Dr. Omer Mallhi is how safe they feel in his chair.
Known for his gentle touch and steady presence, Dr. Mallhi has a gift for helping patients relax - even those who arrive anxious, overwhelmed, or discouraged by past dental experiences. In some cases, he's even able to complete fillings with minimal or no anesthetic, always guided by what is clinically appropriate and most comfortable for the patient.
Clinical Excellence Rooted in Compassion
Dr. Mallhi brings nearly two decades of experience with a strong focus on advanced restorative and complex dental care, including root canal therapy and esthetic makeovers. He works closely with each patient to create treatment plans that feel manageable, never rushed, and always respectful of individual comfort levels.
For patients who need extra support, Dr. Mallhi is fully trained in oral and nitrous oxide sedation - safe, effective options that help reduce anxiety and increase comfort during treatment. His philosophy is simple: great dentistry isn't just about technical excellence; it's about listening, explaining clearly, and offering real options without pressure.
Deeply committed to continuing education, Dr. Mallhi exceeds the annual requirements each year, staying current with evolving techniques and technologies to ensure every patient receives the best possible care, regardless of the complexity of their dental needs.
Finding Home in Newfoundland
Dr. Mallhi moved to Newfoundland and Labrador in 2016 with his wife, Sadia, planning to stay "just a couple of years." But Newfoundland had other plans. The warmth of the people, the humour, the sense of community, and the feeling of being welcomed like family quickly turned a temporary move into a permanent home. Today, he jokes that he feels like he's from Gander Bay - "just with a tan."
Outside the clinic, Dr. Mallhi enjoys travelling, spending time with his family, including Sadia and their children, Faiqa and Sajeel, and unwinding with his PS5.
In his care, patients feel heard.

DR. MALLHI
DR. MUMTAZ
Dr. Habiba Mumtaz completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry. She is a member of the Newfoundland Dental Association and licenced by the Newfoundland and Labrador dental board. She completed her Bachelor of Dentistry from Pakistan, gaining valuable years of clinical experience before relocating to Canada. She brings a creative and detail oriented approach to practicing Dentistry and is consistently focused on ensuring that she exceeds the expectations of each patient she treats.
She thrives on personal connections with her patients and possesses a warm and gentle personality that instantly puts her patients at ease. Dr. Habiba Mumtaz chose to move from Toronto to settle in St. John’s and now calls Newfoundland home. She is heavily invested in giving back to her community. She strives to develop a trust-based relationship with her patients to ensure that they are always confident in the care they receive.
Outside of the Dental office, Dr. Habiba Mumtaz loves to spend time with her family, and is passionate about travel, cooking and reading.
DR. FERGUSON
Dr. Ferguson is a welcome addition to NL and Paradise Dental Care and brings 35 years of dental experience. As a former teacher, his focus is on educating patients about the problems and treatment solutions available. He is keenly aware of the relation that dental health has to our overall health including the important role of diet and lifestyle. The goal is to help you understand the available options and help you make an informed decision about the treatments you chose to maintain your oral health and the health of your children. Dr. Ferguson enjoys working with children with the aim of creating as positive experience in the office as possible for everyone.
Personally, Dr. Ferguson enjoys spending time with his wife in their new home in St John’s. He enjoys the city culture and loves hiking with his dog in the outdoors.
OUR DENTAL HYGIENISTS
MARCELLA
Marcella was born and raised in Burin, NL. In 2005, she graduated from MUN with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Biology. She moved to Halifax to pursue a career in Dental Hygiene at Dalhousie University and has been working at Paradise Dental Care since graduating in 2007.
Marcella loves working as a hygienist and cannot imagine working at anything else. She is very dedicated to this clinic and her patients, many of whom she has been seeing since she started here.
In her free time, she enjoys travelling, hiking, reading and spending time with family, friends and her cat, Beans.
KELLY
Kelly was born and raised in Marystown, NL. After graduating from Dalhousie University in 2003, she began her career as a dental hygienist in Edmonton, Alberta.
In 2010, she, her husband, and two children moved back home to Newfoundland to be closer to family.
Kelly has been with Paradise Dental for over 10 years. She loves her job and connecting with her patients. She takes great pride in optimal oral health care and wants to make sure everyone feels comfortable and at ease.
Outside of work, Kelly enjoys being active and spending time with her family and her pup Sid.
EMILY
Emily is one of our Registered Dental Hygienists. She was born in Carbonear, Newfoundland. She graduated from Keyin College in 2020 with a Registered Dental Assisting course.
She then attended Toronto College of Dental Hygiene & Auxiliaries and became a Registered Dental Hygienist in 2022.
Emily enjoys crocheting and walking when she is not working.
OUR ASSISTANTS
MADISON
Madison is one of our Registered Dental Assistants who works alongside Dr. Habiba Mumtaz. Madison grew up in Placenta Bay, Newfoundland, and moved to Paradise in 2023.
Madison graduated from Laval High School in Placentia in 2021 and completed the Dental Assisting program at Keyin in 2022.
Madison enjoys giving patients the confidence to smile and educating them (especially kids) on oral hygiene.
Madison enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and cat, Bella, in her free time. She also enjoys figure skating and playing softball!
OUR ADMINISTRATION
LORI (Team Lead)
At the heart of Paradise Dental Care's smooth day-to-day operations is our Administrative Team Lead, Lori.
Lori works closely with Dr. Omer Mallhi and is often the very first person his patients meet. With a calm presence, genuine kindness, and exceptional organizational skills, she keeps the clinic running seamlessly while making every patient feel truly cared for.
Born in Scarborough, Ontario, but a Newfoundlander at heart, Lori proudly calls Clarenville home. Her deep roots in Newfoundland shine through in the way she connects with people - warm, grounded, and always ready to help.
Lori brings 36 years of experience in the dental field, and it shows. She has a remarkable ability to anticipate needs, solve problems quickly, and keep even the busiest days feeling manageable. If there's ever a question at the front desk, Lori not only knows the answer, she knows how to make the solution feel easy.
A meticulous professional with a love for top-notch supplies (especially a great pen and her trusty adding machine), Lori balances precision with heart. She values her coworkers deeply and plays a central role in creating the supportive, welcoming environment patients feel the moment they walk through the door.
Outside the clinic, Lori enjoys hiking, boating, travelling (especially trips home to Clarenville and Terra Nova), and catching a good movie.
To our patients, Lori is reassurance, organization, and kindness all in one. To our team, she's the glue that holds everything together - and we wouldn't have it any other way.

MALLORY
Mallory is our Senior Hygiene Coordinator here at Paradise Dental. She was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. She graduated High School in 2005 from Rockridge Secondary School. She graduated from Dental Office Reception at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 2013.

Mallory feels that being a Hygiene Coordinator is like solving puzzles. She enjoys scheduling appointments because it feels like completing the jigsaw! She also enjoys working with friendly patients and coworkers.

Mallory likes going to parks, biking and spending time with her family!
​
Something that our patients may like to know about Mallory is that she is also a seamstress! So, if you need anything hemmed up, just bring it to your next dental appointment!!

MARZY
Marzy is one of our wonderful Hygiene Coordinators. She was born in Iran.
​
Marzy graduated in Iran in 2011 with a Bachelor of Business and Technology Education. She then went on to receive a Bachelor of Accounting in 2021.
​
She finds it fulfilling to help people navigate dental benefits and encourage patients to maintain good dental hygiene. She also finds it gratifying to make a difference in the patient's well-being.
​
Marzy enjoys listening to music, driving, hiking, and swimming in her free time. She also enjoys talking with patients and learning more about their culture. It makes her happy to learn more about Canadian culture and the behaviour of Canadians and Newfoundlanders in particular!

Marzy finds the people here in Newfoundland so kind, and she likes to help them as much as they help her!
PROPERTY MANAGER
KALEEM
Kaleem is our Property Manager. He graduated in 1990.

Kaleem is very much a people person. He loves his job as Property Manager of Paradise Dental. He has gained the opportunity to meet all kinds of different people, which he says is awesome!
​
Kaleem enjoys spending most of his time with his family. He loves to have intellectual talks with them, whether it's during a walk or hike or just being together!
​
Kaleem would like to let all of our patients know that he is not a Dentist or a Hygienist, but he says that is in the best interest of the patients! (he would follow up with a laugh!)

Kaleem says that Paradise Dental Care is the best thing that ever happened to him. He has been blessed with amazing staff, colleagues, doctors, and an owner!
