NEW PATIENTS WELCOME: ABOUT OUR DENTAL OFFICE IN ST. JOHN'S
Paradise Dental Care has been a family dentist in the Paradise area for nearly 2 decades, and in that time we have seen lots of families grow up in our care. Led by Dr. Mahlli our staff helps patients of all ages get on the path to optimal oral health, with regular checkups, preventative treatments and periodontal care.
OUR DENTISTS
DR. MALLHI
In 2016, Dr. Mallhi moved to NL with his wife Sadia and two kids for a couple of years with the eventual plan of moving back to Ontario, but after spending 6 years, he feels he is from Gander Bay. A Newfie with a tan.
At Paradise Dental, Dr. Mallhi values continuing education and staying current with the latest techniques to provide quality treatment, and he takes pride in treating his patients. His warm and friendly approach has a very calming effect, and when his charm isn't enough, he uses his training in oral and nitrous oxide sedation to provide additional care to patients who are nervous/anxious during dental treatments. He also loves doing root canal treatments and esthetic makeovers. He spends numerous hours each year – much more than the annual requirements - attending continuing education courses and seminars to hone his skills.
When he is not working, he can be found travelling. He loves spending time with his wife Sadia and two kids Faiqa and Sajeel, but he also loves his PS5.
DR. MUMTAZ
Dr. Habiba Mumtaz completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry. She is a member of the Newfoundland Dental Association and licenced by the Newfoundland and Labrador dental board. She completed her Bachelor of Dentistry from Pakistan, gaining valuable years of clinical experience before relocating to Canada. She brings a creative and detail oriented approach to practicing Dentistry and is consistently focused on ensuring that she exceeds the expectations of each patient she treats.
She thrives on personal connections with her patients and possesses a warm and gentle personality that instantly puts her patients at ease. Dr. Habiba Mumtaz chose to move from Toronto to settle in St. John’s and now calls Newfoundland home. She is heavily invested in giving back to her community. She strives to develop a trust-based relationship with her patients to ensure that they are always confident in the care they receive.
Outside of the Dental office, Dr. Habiba Mumtaz loves to spend time with her family, and is passionate about travel, cooking and reading.
DR. FERGUSON
Dr. Ferguson is a welcome addition to NL and Paradise Dental Care and brings 35 years of dental experience. As a former teacher, his focus is on educating patients about the problems and treatment solutions available. He is keenly aware of the relation that dental health has to our overall health including the important role of diet and lifestyle. The goal is to help you understand the available options and help you make an informed decision about the treatments you chose to maintain your oral health and the health of your children. Dr. Ferguson enjoys working with children with the aim of creating as positive experience in the office as possible for everyone.
Personally, Dr. Ferguson enjoys spending time with his wife in their new home in St John’s. He enjoys the city culture and loves hiking with his dog in the outdoors.
OUR DENTAL HYGIENISTS
KELLY
Kelly was born and raised in Marystown, NL. After graduating from Dalhousie University in 2003, she began her career as a dental hygienist in Edmonton, Alberta.
In 2010, she, her husband, and two children moved back home to Newfoundland to be closer to family.
Kelly has been with Paradise Dental for over 10 years. She loves her job and connecting with her patients. She takes great pride in optimal oral health care. Her goal is to make sure everyone feels comfortable and at ease.
Outside of work, Kelly enjoys being active and spending time with her family and her pup Sid.
ASHLEY
Ashley graduated in 2013 from the Canadian National Institute of Health in Ottawa, ON. Upon graduation, she moved back home to Newfoundland to raise her son and dog.
She has a gentle touch with a caring demeanour that shows her compassion to help patients strive for a healthy smile and overall good health.
Her attention to detail and enthusiasm to maintain high and current standards in the profession of periodontics are truly appreciated by her patients and the dental team.
In her free time, she enjoys being in the kitchen or going for a hike along the east coast trails.
MARCELLA
Marcella was born and raised in Burin, NL. In 2005, she graduated from MUN with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Biology. She moved to Halifax to pursue a career in Dental Hygiene at Dalhousie University and has been working at Paradise Dental Care since graduating in 2007.
Marcella loves working as a hygienist and cannot imagine working at anything else. She is very dedicated to this clinic and her patients, many of whom she has been seeing since she started here.
In her free time, she enjoys travelling, hiking, reading and spending time with family, friends and her cat, Beans.
EMILY
Emily graduated from Dalhousie University in 2017 and has worked part-time with our team since 2017 and full-time since 2021.
When she's not working and helping around the clinic, she's spending time with her partner and two rescue huskies.
